This unique hand carved bowl is covered in color and pattern.

The piece was carved entirely with hand tools. The silver maple log was cut, split, and hewn to shape with an axe, hollowed with an adze and gouges, and finished with various carving knives. This ale hen was created with a quartered silver maple log and is finished with milk paint and an oil/beeswax mix.

This piece was created in series of one-off bird bowls prepared for special exhibition in Minneapolis. It was carved entirely with hand tools.
